Welcome!Kia Ora,
Welcome to Dairy Flat School. Dairy Flat is a rural haven close to Auckland, where our families can enjoy the freedom of space and feel connected to the country. The school greatly benefits from strong support from our community. Our school aims to “provide the best possible learning experiences and environment to facilitate students to become lifelong learners who strive for excellence, value diversity, think creatively and care for themselves and others.” We believe that ‘everyone can become a powerful learner, in a supportive, connected learning environment based on respect for each other and reflective practices.’ Dairy Flat School has a long and proud tradition. The school was established in 1878, and from old accounts of the district, Dairy Flat had a predecessor, Pukeatua School, which had a roll of twenty. The school has certainly progressed from its early beginning and now proudly offers excellent learning and teaching. We are responsive to the community and the needs of the children. LearningDairy Flat School Mission Statement
"To provide the best possible learning experiences and environment, assisting children to gain the knowledge, skills, attitudes and values necessary to attain their potential and become responsible, confident people". A copy of our school prospectus is available on request at the office and is attached below. Our school operates in four learning zones: LZ1 - Year five and year six students, LZ2 - Year three and year four students, LZ3 - Year two and year three students, LZ4 - Year Zero and Year one students. This year the BOT has made a commitment to the further development of innovative learning spaces and teaching practices in the school. We are continuing to move towards a more flexible teaching model with a range of teaching spaces and furniture. Students will have the opportunity to work with different teachers and students in their team. Students will be working on projects around a theme each term and teachers will continue to have a focus on catering for students, being mindful of their individual talents and needs. We encourage students to bring their own devices to school though this is not compulsory. I am excited by the learning opportunities we can offer students this year. Curriculum Plan for 2019 |
